The Woodford County Personnel Committee on an initial vote recommended a personnel order that includes a custodial hire in the maintenance department and a status change in Animal Care and Control, and approved a proposal to grant two floating holidays to employees who worked emergency response during recent severe winter weather.
The committee chair said the maintenance director, Rick Wade, recommended a candidate to fill a custodial position; with no questions raised in committee, the committee’s motion recommending the personnel order to the full fiscal court was made and seconded and the motion carried. The committee separately considered a request from Officer Emily Katner to reclassify Eleanor Green from technician to full officer status in the Animal Care and Control Department. The committee moved and seconded the recommendation to the full fiscal court, and the motion carried.
Committee members also discussed how to compensate county employees who worked during the county closure for a severe winter storm. The committee chair said the county was closed Monday and Tuesday and that employees who performed emergency response (including road, EMS, the jail, sheriff’s office and maintenance) would be made whole by the award of two floating holidays. The holidays would be available for use through June 30 of the current fiscal year and would follow standard scheduling approval procedures. The committee moved to recommend the floating-holiday proposal to the full fiscal court; the motion carried. The chair said, if the full fiscal court approves the proposal, staff will draft the exact eligibility criteria and distribute them to employees.
No committee-level dissent was recorded. All personnel items discussed in committee were to be forwarded to the full fiscal court for final action.
