Lake Elsinore honors McFly’s Thrift Store and two longtime Women’s Club volunteers

The City of Lake Elsinore presented certificates of recognition Jan. 28 to Jeannie Corral and Linda Campos for 50 years of service with the Lake Elsinore Women’s Club, and it spotlighted McFly’s Thrift Store as the city’s January “Businesses in Action.”
Mayor Tisdale presented the certificates honoring Corral’s leadership as club president from 1976 to 1978 and Campos’s service as president from 1999 to 2001. County Supervisor Karen Spiegel and Sonia Matisse (identified in the meeting as a California Federation of Women’s Clubs representative) joined presenters in congratulating the honorees.
Gina Gonzales, the city’s director of economic development, described the Businesses in Action program and introduced McFly’s owners Che and Janice Garcia, who accepted the recognition. Gonzales said McFly’s opened in Lake Elsinore in 2021 after first opening in 1997 in the city of Orange; she highlighted the store’s community donations, charitable partnerships, sustainable reuse practices and involvement with downtown merchants.
A downtown merchant, Kimberly Ryan, used public comment to thank the Garcias and said she initially opposed another thrift store downtown but had come to support McFly’s because of the owners’ community contributions.
Councilmembers and guests posed for photographs; the recognitions were presented as ceremonial items and did not require council action or votes.
