The Common Council opened a public hearing on a proposed conditional-use permit to allow secondhand merchandise sales at 7601 Harwood Avenue in the neighborhood/village trade C1 zone. The applicant, Danielle Lynn, said her store would sell gently used children's clothing and gear, operate roughly 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and aim to provide a family-focused retail option while reducing waste.
City staff said the item will be considered by the Planning Commission on Feb. 10 and then return to the Common Council on Feb. 25. No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition at the council hearing and no e-comments were received on the item. The public hearing was closed and the matter referred to the Planning Commission for a recommendation.
Lynn, who identified herself as a Wauwatosa native and current Elm Grove resident, said she was "happy to answer any questions" and looked forward to becoming part of the village business community.
The council took no final action at the hearing; the Planning Commission will review the conditional-use permit application and report back to the council.
