Kearney council suspends readings, adopts parking ordinance update and approves sale of lot to Hot Meals USA

At its Jan. 28, 2025, meeting the Kearney City Council suspended the statutory three-day reading requirement and passed Ordinance No. 8720, updating Article 9 (stopping, standing and parking) of Chapter 8 of the City Code, and Ordinance No. 8721, approving the sale of Lot 1, Block 1, Tech 14th Subdivision to Hot Meals USA.
A motion to suspend the three reading requirement and read the ordinances by number only was seconded and passed by roll call; the roll call recorded the mayor absent and councilmembers Moore, Schmidt, Strautman and Bushcutter voting aye. The council then moved that Ordinance Nos. 8720 and 8721 be passed, approved and published as provided by law; the second roll call produced the same result.
The consent agenda, items 1 through 8, was approved earlier in the meeting by roll call with no item removed for separate consideration. The meeting minutes do not include text of the consent items beyond their aggregated approval.
