Germantown aldermen appoint Scottie Hendrick to Board of Education position 2

The Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Monday appointed Scottie Hendrick to fill the unexpired Position 2 seat on the Germantown Board of Education.
Deputy City Administrator Lisa Piefer summarized the appointment process: the city posted the vacancy on Dec. 3, accepted applications through Dec. 20, publicly interviewed seven finalists at a Jan. 6 special meeting, and followed the procedures in the city code for filling the vacancy until the next general election in 2026.
Vice Mayor Mary Anne Gibson nominated Scottie Hendrick, citing his leadership and experience with large projects and community partnerships. Alderman Hicks seconded the nomination. After discussion, the board voted by roll call: Aldermen Salvaggio, Sanders, Vice Mayor Gibson, Hicks and Yulicki voted yes; the nomination received a majority and Hendrick was appointed. Clerk Betty said the new member will be sworn in later by the Germantown Board of Education.
Board members thanked all 14 applicants for stepping forward and encouraged those not selected to remain engaged in civic service. Several board members said the decision was difficult given the number of qualified candidates. The seven finalists publicly interviewed were Kyle Eaton, Seth Carroll, Manjeet Kaur, Beth Robbins, John Sensel and Joy Williams (listed in agenda materials along with the appointee).
Piefer said the appointee will serve until a successor is elected during the next general election in 2026. The city materials cited the appointment’s alignment with Forward 2035 goals related to excellence in education.
No formal challenges or amendments were made to the nomination during the meeting.
