Germantown beer board approves Asadero Mexican Grill beer permit

The Germantown beer board voted unanimously Monday to grant an on-premise beer sales permit to Abraham Valenzuela for Asadero Mexican Grill at 3165 Forest Hill Irene Road.
Clerk Betty told the board that a permit application had been submitted by Abraham Valenzuela and that a 10-year background check disclosed no disqualifying matters. The restaurant is in a C-1 zoning district, where on-premise beer consumption is permitted subject to beer board approval.
At the public hearing no members of the public spoke for or against the application. Alderman Sanders moved to approve the permit; Alderman Hicks seconded. The board took a roll-call vote with Aldermen Hicks, Yulicki, Salvaggio, Sanders and Vice Mayor Mary Anne Gibson voting yes; the motion carried.
Applicant Abraham Valenzuela spoke briefly during the meeting. He said he already operates a restaurant with a beer permit—Rancho Grande on Hacks Cross/Bethel Road—and that he has had no ordinance violations at that location. Valenzuela said staff will be trained to check identification and complete required state training for alcohol servers.
Clerk Betty confirmed the applicant could pick up his license after the meeting. Board members congratulated Valenzuela and noted the new restaurant as a welcome addition to Germantown's dining scene.
The beer board heard no other business and adjourned back to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting.
