The Waukesha City Ordinance and Licensing Committee voted unanimously Jan. 27 to approve two new Class A beer and liquor license applications and to grant an extension of premises for Castle Heart LLC.
Devi Corner LLC received committee approval for a new Class A beer and Class A liquor license, subject to a condition that the applicant complete the city’s required responsible-server training and file proof with the clerk’s office. The applicant told the committee the business is a new application after purchasing the location from a previous owner who had not held a liquor license. At the meeting the applicant said, “I don't know what to do. Don't worry, it's everyone's first time sometime.” The committee’s motion to approve Devi Corner LLC was made by the chair of the ordinance and licensing committee and seconded by Alderperson Helvensleben; the committee recorded the matter as approved unanimously.
3J Liquor LLC also received unanimous committee approval for a Class A beer and Class A liquor license. An applicant representing 3J Liquor spoke briefly during the committee’s review and, in a light remark during introductions, said, “I have a two week old child at home, so I really would rather be here.” The motion to approve 3J Liquor’s application was made and seconded on the floor and recorded as approved unanimously.
Castle Heart LLC requested an extension of premises for the sale of liquor and/or beer. No representative from Castle Heart was present at the committee meeting. Committee members discussed the item briefly and moved to approve the extension; Alderperson Helvensleben made the motion and Alderperson Mannion seconded it. The committee approved the extension unanimously.
All three committee approvals will be forwarded to the full City Council for final consideration at the council meeting next Tuesday. Committee members and the applicants were directed to coordinate with the clerk’s office for any outstanding paperwork; specifically, Devi Corner LLC must provide proof of completion of the required responsible-server training to the clerk’s office before the license will proceed.
The meeting opened at 6 p.m., had no public comments, and adjourned at about 6:07 p.m.
