Waller County goes live with online permitting portal to expedite permit submittals

Waller County staff announced at the Jan. 23 Commissioners Court meeting that the county’s online permitting portal (MGO, My Government Online) is now live and accepting electronic permit submittals.
Ross, a Road and Bridge staff member, said the portal supports online submission for subdivision permits, plats, driveway and utility permits and other items that previously required paper filings. Ross said staff are "working through some bugs and issues" but that the portal should make the permitting process more efficient and help the county approach a 30-day turnaround expectation for reviews.
Staff will publish instructions
Ross said the county will push out instructions and tools to developers and permit applicants in the next few weeks. He also said applicants will be able to check the application status online, and staff will research whether commissioners and the county judge can be provided a viewer or login to check progress on requests when constituents call the office.
Why it matters
County staff said moving permitting online should increase efficiency for applicants and reviewers, reduce in-person visits to county offices for routine permits and enable electronic review comments between applicants and staff.
