The Waukesha Plan Commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Elegant Hair LLC to operate a hair salon from the attached garage at 1501 Delafield Street at its Jan. 22 meeting.
Robin (planning staff) presented the application, saying the property is in the RS‑3 single‑family residential district and that a home‑industry use requires a conditional use permit. The applicant proposed Tuesday through Saturday hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the applicant as the only employee and one to two clients on site at a time. Robin said the attached garage would be remodeled and re‑sided to match the house and that two on‑site parking spaces were shown.
Alderman Eric Payne, representing the district, told commissioners he had visited the property and ‘‘I have no problem at all with it. It's totally screened from all the neighbors.’’
Commissioner Molson moved to approve the staff recommendation; Commissioner Bolton seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The approval included the staff condition that any future business or a different occupant would need to return to the Plan Commission for a conditional use permit, and that all staff comments be addressed before issuance of any permit.
