Uintah County commission actions: grants, leases, claims and appointments approved

The Uintah County Commission on Jan. 21 approved a slate of routine but consequential items including minutes, warrants, a vendor claim, a federal-lease amendment, a medical-provider contract amendment at the jail and multiple board appointments.
Minutes and warrants: The commission approved the minutes for Jan. 14 and the Jan. 15 work session. Auditor Mike Wilkins presented warrants dated Jan. 16 totaling $2,504,042.12, including a $52,000 payment for a landfill compactor and a $90,826 six-month contribution to 911 communications; the commission approved the warrants by voice vote.
Vendor claim: The commission approved a claim to UENNA Refrigeration & Electrical for $13,932.98 (invoice dated Dec. 30, 2025) after staff explained the invoice exceeded the original purchase order because Freon replacement costs were higher than anticipated. Auditor Wilkins said the expense would be charged to last year—udget as a rollback.
FBI lease amendment: County staff presented an amendment to the lease with the FBI (term noted as Nov. 24 to Nov. 20, 2025) increasing annual rent to $43,430.63, an increase of $268.46; the commission approved the lease amendment.
Jail medical provider: Commissioners approved amendment No. 6 to the county—ontract for jail medical services to renew the existing arrangement through Feb. 8, 2026, with the same compensation terms.
Board appointments: The commission appointed Jessica Wilkins (Tri-County Mental Health and Substance Abuse Board), Cynthia Madison (Mosquito Abatement District Board) and Dr. Sterling Haws (Tri-County Board of Health) to multi-year terms as presented.
Informational presentations: Miles Hamburg, regional supervisor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, presented the division nnual payment in lieu of taxes to Uintah County totaling $9,673.88 and noted ongoing restoration work and land disposals affecting acreage. Tricia Collum of the county attorney—ourt support team summarized the victim advocacy program, reporting that the VOCA-funded staff helped 507 individuals in 2024 and that the office provided more than 9,000 services overall.
Public comment: Ken Campbell, airport director, returned during the public comment period to correct a statement from his earlier presentation about the airport grant match; he clarified Vernal City—ontribution and private hangar fees are part of the final match math. The meeting adjourned following public comment.
