At the meeting the Lamar City Council approved several administrative and financing actions by formal vote or voice vote.
Landfill rates corrected: The council adopted Resolution 253 to correct landfill tonnage fees and other charges that had been mislisted in a prior fee schedule approved on Dec. 17, 2024. Administration presented a new fee sheet with corrected numbers and the council adopted the resolution; a roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from Wick, Sturgeon, an unspecified member, Goodchild and Bruns. The resolution takes effect Jan. 1, 2025.
Town hall meeting date set: The council set a special council town hall meeting for Jan. 30, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers and approved the date and time by motion (motion seconded and approved by voice vote). The administration said the agenda will be published shortly.
Water bond financing: The council approved a loan agreement and related documents providing for the issuance of $24,880,000 in water revenue bonds, series 2025A, to finance a reverse-osmosis water treatment plant project, well No. 15 and raw water mains. The loan agreement was approved by roll call with affirmative votes from councilmembers present (Wick, Sturgeon, an unspecified member, Goodchild, Bruns). The council also adopted Resolution 255 authorizing issuance and securing payment of future obligations to borrow for the municipal waterworks utility; that resolution passed on a separate roll call with the same recorded affirmative votes.
The meeting record shows motions, seconds and the roll-call votes where recorded; where the transcript recorded only voice votes, those items were recorded as carried by voice vote.
