The Santa Barbara Airport Commission elected Commissioner Dan Glaser as chair and Commissioner Levi Maia as vice chair in a unanimous vote during its meeting. The motion to elect Glaser and Maia was made and seconded, and commissioners voted “aye” to approve both leadership appointments.
The leadership shift follows the commission’s term-limit provisions: a chair may serve two consecutive years and commissioners are limited to two consecutive four-year terms. Outgoing Chair Houghton presided over the roll call and asked for nominations before the vote. After the result was announced, outgoing Chair Houghton said, “I have the pleasure passing the iPad to Chairman Glaser. Congratulations.” Dan Glaser responded, “Thank you, sir.”
The commission also approved the meeting’s consent calendar by a separate unanimous voice vote during the same session. No public comments were received on the leadership nominations or the consent calendar prior to the votes.
The newly elected chair and vice chair will carry out routine commission duties and preside over upcoming agenda items, including continued discussion of the airport’s FBO redevelopment, noise working group recommendations and climate adaptation work already underway.
