On Jan. 21 the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved two human‑resources and finance items: a contract for temporary Workday expertise and a change to hiring authority for directors and elected officials.
Administrator Lesher said the county’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) transition to Workday required a limited amount of specialized, temporary contractor support to complete final journal entries and align code allocations across grants and departmental budgets. The board approved an amendment to contract with Haile International Recruitment US LLC for up to $250,000; Lesher said funds have already been budgeted within the departments that will use the temporary support (Finance and Human Resources) and that the contractor would be used on an as‑needed basis.
Separately, the board revised Personnel Policy 8.117 to allow department directors and elected officials to hire candidates up to the midpoint of a pay grade range rather than restricting hires to the first quartile without county‑administrator sign‑off. Lesher said the change is intended to make recruitment more competitive for difficult‑to‑fill positions and reduce delays while preserving budget‑and‑HR review.
Both items were approved by the board. Supervisors asked for a follow‑up on total ERP implementation costs and any variance from original budgets.
