Schoen Vineyards owner urges county to preserve existing tasting‑room status while planning conditions are worked out

At the Pima County Board of Supervisors’ public comment period on Jan. 21, Colton Noble, representing Schoen Vineyards (also referenced as Sharon Vineyards in the comment), updated the board on efforts to resolve conditions for a conditional use permit related to a winery and tasting room.
Noble said the county has issued a farm‑winery Series 13 license and that the Arizona statute ARS 4‑205.04 permits on‑site retail/tasting room activity under a farm winery license. He told the board the county previously issued a permit for a tasting room in 2016 and that the structure was built in 2018, and he asked the board to “maintain the status quo and allow us to update our infrastructure without adding any additional parking or adding anything additional that we're being asked to do.”
Supervisor Christie requested that Development Services staff review the winery’s pending conditional use permit conditions, and asked the county to arrange a meeting between the winery representatives, the supervisor’s office and Development Services to try to resolve outstanding conditions.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; the board’s direction was to have staff follow up with the applicant and the district supervisor’s office.
