Meredith described planned items in the appendix as practical supports for teachers, particularly early‑career educators or teachers new to a grade band. “One of the visuals is going to provide further explanation, using a chart of different ages, and at which age a student should achieve a phonological skill and then, like, sample task that they would do for that skill,” she said. She also recommended adding a standard for phonological awareness in second grade to ensure continuity of instruction beyond K–1.
Committee staff said they will gather committee‑drafted example graphics in the shared “final documents” folder and send requests to the Department of Education graphics team for professional formatting and copyright checks. Catherine and court staff confirmed there is a department graphics team that can finalize artwork and handle licensing questions; staff asked authors to leave comments in the SDC edits document indicating where each appendix item should go and what changes are needed.
The committee discussed whether some appendix items should be drafted by SDC members and uploaded directly (for example, a draft syllable‑types chart), and other items should be submitted as a request to the department to produce (for example, a standardized PLC graphic or a statewide RTI/MTSS tier diagram). The chairs asked authors to place drafts and citation notes in the final documents folder and to use track changes and short rationales so staff can make final edits.
Next steps: authors were asked to drop sample graphics into the SDC edits document, add a short comment with where the graphic should be placed in the appendix, and note any copyright or content issues. Staff will consolidate those inputs and request department assistance for final graphics and licensing.
