El Paso County approves intergovernmental agreement to fix Falcon Highlands underdrains

The El Paso County Board of County Commissioners approved the consent calendar on Jan. 21, including a resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement between El Paso County and Falcon Highlands Metropolitan District to address underdrains in the Falcon Highlands area. The motion to approve the consent calendar was moved and seconded and passed on a 5-0 roll call.

Commissioner Williams, who called attention to item 5C before the vote, described the agreement as a response to residents’ concerns about underdrains that she said had caused flooding in homes and delayed planned paving work. “This is an item I am so excited about because it is in service to our residents,” Williams said, thanking county staff and the county administrator for working with the metro district to find a solution. “I'm super proud of this. I'm really grateful that we are going to be able to help and get those residents back into a position where they are not experiencing flooding in their homes.”

The board's roll-call vote recorded Commissioners Brimmer, Weisong, Applegate, Vice Chair Williams and the chair voting “aye,” giving the motion a 5-0 tally.
