U.N. reports funding allocation for Ukraine, disarmament developments in DRC and first WFP delivery to Sudan's Al Jazeera state

The United Nations provided a set of brief updates covering Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan.
On Ukraine, the U.N. said the humanitarian coordinator allocated $70,000,000 from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund to support the 2025 humanitarian response plan. The funds are earmarked to assist newly displaced people, sustain essential services in frontline areas and strengthen local organizations assisting women, people with disabilities and other marginalized communities. The spokesperson said interagency convoys recently delivered aid to frontline areas including Pokrov and communities in Kherson.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, U.N. peacekeeping colleagues reported that more than 600 combatants from the Zaire armed group laid down their arms in Mabanga, Ituri province's Jugu territory. In a ceremony in Bunia, the mission also received more than 85 weapons and munitions; the U.N. said former combatants are being supported with agricultural projects, income-generating activities and community recovery programs to assist reintegration.
Turning to Sudan, the World Food Programme reached Wadd Madani, the capital of Al Jazeera state, with the first WFP delivery in over a year: 11 trucks carrying about 260 metric tons of food and nutrition supplies, which the U.N. said is enough for more than 20,000 people. The spokesperson said residents in Wadd Madani face severe shortages of food, water and health services and that OCHA has called for additional resources and protection for civilians amid reports of shootings, movement restrictions and gender-based violence.
The U.N. also thanked Antigua and Barbuda, Latvia, Nauru and Switzerland for full payments to the regular budget and said those payments brought the honor roll to 17 members.
Ending note: The U.N. said partners continue relief efforts in all highlighted locations and urged additional resources where needs remain acute.
