Supervisors approve final plans for Taylor Avenue bridge replacement; letting delayed to June

The Wright County Board of Supervisors approved final plans Jan. 13 for a bridge replacement on Taylor Avenue over Lewis Creek, authorizing an 80-foot by 24-foot continuous concrete slab bridge to replace an existing 57-foot, three-span timber structure.
Wright County Engineer Adam Clemens presented the plans and asked supervisors to sign the final set. Clemens said work was intended to proceed sooner but that the Iowa Department of Transportation delayed its review and pushed the project to the June letting; the county had hoped for a March letting that would have aligned with other culvert and paving projects. Clemens said the bridge will not require temporary shiners and that the contractor can start work immediately once awarded.
Supervisors seconded and approved the motion to accept final plans for project BROSC 099(106)--9-99 (Taylor Avenue over Lewis Creek). Clemens said project scheduling will be set by DOT at letting based on the number of working days proposed in the contract. He also noted the county expects a busy summer with multiple bridge and paving projects.
The board requested supervisors sign the plan set and receive the engineer’s confidential cost estimate ahead of bid letting. Clemens asked for signatures on the plan set and reminded the board that more detailed letting start dates will come from DOT.
