Committee adds four items to consent calendar; requests CHS include public-shareable incident counts when permitted

The Public Safety and Justice Committee on Jan. 17 added four agenda items to its consent calendar —6 including an OCLIM work plan and the county's clean slate program report —6 and approved the consent calendar.
The committee voted Jan. 17 to add items 8—11 to the consent calendar and approved the consent calendar. The items added to consent were: the Office of Community-Led Initiatives (OCLIM) work plan, the county's clean slate program report, an inmate records information-systems implementation report, and a custody and enforcement training report.
Chairperson Ellenberg made the motion to add the items and move them to the consent calendar; the motion was seconded by Vice Chairperson President Otto Lee. The motion to add items 8 through 11 was recorded and the consent calendar subsequently passed (Vice Chairperson Lee, aye; Chairperson Ellenberg, yes). Motion carries.
During discussion of item 14 (a custody health services programming report that remained on the regular agenda), Vice Chairperson Lee requested that future Custody Health Services reports include publicly shareable information on inmate deaths, suicide attempts and serious injury, such as a simple table with counts and dates where disclosure is permitted. County Counsel (referred to as Mikhail) responded that privacy considerations vary by case and that staff would examine what aggregate information could be published. Chairperson Ellenberg proposed the committee receive such aggregate information “to the extent permitted.”
Public comment: No public speakers addressed the consent calendar. The committee recorded the consent vote and moved on to subsequent agenda items.
