City staff and Toledo CEDAW commissioners said the city will administer a vendor-drafted workplace climate survey and conduct interviews with employees and community members as part of a gender equity analysis.
Benita, the gender equity manager, told the commission that the vendor sent a draft of the climate survey and that an internal work group will finalize it. “It’s pretty amazing. My main concern is that it’s pretty long,” Benita said, adding that the survey contains questions about workplace safety, workplace culture and pay equity.
Commission staff said they will administer the employee survey and conduct interviews with both employees and community members. Benita said the implementation is moving quickly and that the team will provide more details in the next few weeks so city employees who want to participate can be included.
Staff also reported that assembling existing data for the analysis has revealed shortcomings in how the city stores and manages personnel and related records. Benita said those data issues arose as staff pulled materials together and suggested the analysis could produce recommendations to improve data practices and generate actionable findings about pay and workplace conditions.
