Clovis tax-aid sites move temporarily; appointments and walk-ins scheduled at alternate locations

Volunteers told the Senior Services Committee that local tax-aid operations will shift temporarily while spaces are cleaned or renovated.
Miss Winn said the Roy Walker site will temporarily operate at the Friendship Center beginning Jan. 27 for walk-ins, with hours generally 9 a.m.–noon (staff arrive at 8 a.m.). The Baxter site will operate by appointment only at a donated location, 321 Commerce Way, beginning Feb. 3, Miss Winn said. The appointment-only site was offered by Justin Nutt, who serves on the Hartley House Board, Winn told the committee.
Winn said Baxter informed organizers that a previous host requested rent to allow tax-aid there, prompting staff to seek alternate space; several community offers materialized and the Commerce Way site was confirmed. Staff completed training and certification the week before the meeting.
Winn said the Roy Walker site historically accepted walk-ins and will resume Monday appointments when the Roy Walker room is available again; the Commerce Way location will remain appointment-only. Committee members thanked volunteers for securing alternate locations and for continuing to provide tax assistance to low-income seniors.
No formal action was taken; staff and volunteers will continue outreach and post schedules and posters.
