Clovis senior centers set Valentine winter formal, Super Bowl party and Senior Olympics registration

City of Clovis senior centers and partner groups outlined a slate of upcoming events and fundraisers at the Senior Services Committee meeting.
Hillcrest Senior Life Center staff highlighted a Valentine winter formal on Feb. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m.; the event will be free and include snacks, drinks and live music by the band All About Alice. The center also plans a Super Bowl kickoff party on Feb. 7 and other February activities; staff encouraged residents to pick up the monthly calendar at the senior center (1704 E. 7th St.), on the city website or via the center’s Facebook page.
Baxter Curran reported a successful bake sale with about 135 items ordered and about $2,310 in revenue, roughly half of which was profit. The group plans a garage sale March 15 and a car and motorcycle show set for April 18–19 (Easter weekend), with family activities and an Easter egg hunt planned.
Organizers discussed the 50+ Senior Olympics schedule: registration will be held during the second week of March with multiple registration sites (two at the new senior center, one at La Casa and a night registration at the McDaniels building). Events will run through April, with a banquet at Baxter on the first Saturday in May; Taco Box will cater the banquet.
Committee members praised the variety of programming and outreach plans intended to make events more accessible by adding registration dates and varied locations.
