City staff told the Senior Services Committee they plan to apply for Aging and Long Term Services capital outlay plan-and-design funding for Phase 2 of the Hillcrest Senior Life Center.
"I will be applying for the Aging Long Term Services capital outlay. ... My plan is to apply for plan and design funding for phase 2 of the Hillcrest Senior Life Center," Miss Reagan said, adding the application is open through April. She said approval from city commissioners and staff liaisons will be sought before submission.
Reagan described the Phase 2 concept as adding a multipurpose recreation area, a lecture hall suitable for talent shows, seminars or movie screenings, a dedicated billiards area to move pool tables out of the dining room, and additional restrooms. When asked whether a recreational area remained part of Phase 2, Reagan confirmed it was included and said the center needs more space for activities such as balloon tennis and chair hockey.
Reagan cautioned that, even if the application succeeds, it may be 2026 before a contract is received and construction funding is available. The committee did not vote on the application; Reagan said she would seek commission approval before formally applying.
