The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 16 approved a promotion request in the assessor's office to convert a commercial appraiser from a level 1 to a level 2.
An assessor's office representative told commissioners the employee had met Idaho statutory certification requirements and completed at least one year of appraisal experience, making the worker eligible for the Grade 2 designation. The assessor's office representative said there are currently no unfilled commercial appraiser positions in the office and described the county's career progression framework (1 → 2 → 3) tied to certification and years of experience.
A motion to approve the promotion passed unanimously.
The assessor's office said it will outline what a fully staffed assessor's office would look like as the county prepares for the next budget cycle; the representative said future budget presentations will show personnel needs to reach that level of service.
