District officials told the board on Jan. 15 that they are working with Marathon (a health‑services partner) and a local contractor on a planned staff health center. The district said permit applications have been submitted, subcontractor bidding is underway, and the target opening remains May 1, 2024.
Services described in the meeting included an on‑site primary provider (either a physician assistant or nurse practitioner, depending on final hiring), a medical assistant for lab support, a small pharmacy, lab services and office staff. Officials said hours will be varied to serve different staff schedules (some later evening openings and some early‑morning shifts) and that operating details such as exact hours will depend on the final provider and operating agreements.
District staff said Marathon was recruiting for the primary provider role and that local contractor Willow Construction had advanced subcontractor meetings. The presentation noted there will be some flexibility to refine hours once staffing and operations are finalized and that staff outreach to potential users had not yet been undertaken in depth.
Why it matters: the center is intended to provide convenient primary care and basic lab/pharmacy services for district staff. The board asked whether staff preferences for hours would be solicited; district staff said they have not yet surveyed employees about preferred hours but that the operating partner will negotiate hours and the district can refine schedule offerings as the opening approaches.
Ending: district staff said they would continue permitting and contracting steps with Marathon and Willow Construction and would provide scheduling and operational details as the project advances toward the target May 1 opening.
