Resident urges Middlesex County involvement in New Jersey plan and calls for revived transportation coordinating committee

Crowdell asked whether county officials would participate in the state-led cross-acceptance review and whether the county planned roundtable or public meetings on transportation. He said he had received limited information from the State Department of Transportation and asked for greater transparency and public engagement, noting the county previously held a Transportation Coordinating Committee (TCC) and that stakeholders benefited from a public forum.
The planning director replied that the county's review of the state preliminary plan is ongoing, that the county will have an oversight and review role, and that staff are discussing the plan with municipalities. On transportation outreach, the director described a combined approach that will include a transportation symposium, tabling/outreach events, online portals for public comment and the possibility of roundtable discussions — rather than a single standing committee meeting format.
Crowdell said he preferred restoring a public TCC and asked to be alerted to any roundtable or symposium dates; the director said a symposium is planned for 2025 but that a date had not yet been set.
The board accepted public comment and then closed the public portion of the meeting.
