Grimes County holds public hearings on two replats and a proposed Rolling Oaks speed‑limit cut; no speakers

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — Grimes County Commissioners Court on Wednesday opened public hearings on proposed replats for two Precinct 1 subdivisions and on a county order to lower the speed limit on Rolling Oaks Drive, but no one from the public spoke and the court adjourned the hearing without taking final action.

The court heard presentations from county staff. "Both of these are replats. Both of them do meet the requirements of the subdivision rules and regulations," said Sean King, Grimes County development coordinator, describing the applications for the Merwood subdivision (Phase 1 and 2, Lot 7R, Block 2, and Common Area No. 4) and King Oaks (Section 3, Lot 468R). King identified both as Precinct 1 matters.

County Engineer John Stiber presented a request related to speed limits on Rolling Oaks Drive. The presiding official asked whether the request was to reduce the posted limit "to 25 miles per hour from the normal 35 miles per hour," and Stiber confirmed that was the petition under consideration.

The hearing opened for public comment and staff invited anyone present to speak on any of the three items. No speakers came forward during the public hearing. The court then moved to adjourn the public hearing and proceed with the regular meeting. Commissioner David Tullis made the motion to adjourn the hearing, Commissioner Philip Cox seconded, and the clerk recorded the motion as carrying on a 3–0 vote. The county clerk noted that Commissioners Mallon and Raska were absent from the hearing and attending a conference.

No final approvals, denials or other formal actions on the replats or the Rolling Oaks speed‑limit request were recorded in the public hearing segment. The items remained matters for the court to consider in later proceedings or on later agenda items.

The public-notice posting for the hearing was announced as having been made "according to statute for 72 hours minimum."
