MAPC recommends rezoning at 55100 Stadium Boulevard to I2 with conditions

The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission voted Jan. 14 to recommend rezoning 55100 Stadium Boulevard from R1 single-family medium density to I2 general industrial for a 6.5-acre parcel.
Applicant Tammy Heatherly stated no additional comments at the hearing. City staff reviewed the application and recommended approval after finding it met the six rezoning criteria. Staff listed stipulations including compliance with city engineering requirements, the stormwater drainage design manual and floodplain regulations; submission and approval of a final site plan before redevelopment; and future planning-department review for any change of use.
Commissioner Dennis Zilper moved to approve the rezoning subject to the stated conditions and the motion carried on a voice vote. The MAPC’s favorable recommendation requires the applicant to place the rezoning on a City Council agenda for final action before the stated city deadline.
No public comments were recorded in opposition during the hearing. The commission’s recommendation is contingent on the applicant meeting the city’s engineering, floodplain and site-plan requirements.
