Director reports tree-ordinance draft and riverfront plan timeline to planning commission

Director Pagan updated the Planning Commission on two ongoing planning efforts: a tree ordinance and the riverfront specific plan.
Pagan said a draft staff report on the tree ordinance, prepared by staff including Kent Manuel, is on the director's desk and that staff are preparing to notice the item well in advance—likely three to four weeks—so commissioners and the public can review it before the hearing. Pagan said the city expects the tree-ordinance discussion to be noticed for a February meeting and that it will likely be the only item on that agenda to allow full public discussion.
On the riverfront specific plan, Pagan said staff and the city's consultant have been developing concepts and alternatives and that the project is moving toward a point where staff will present material to the City Council, with an anticipated council review in the April time frame and subsequent return to the Planning Commission. Pagan described the next phase as converting community engagement and input into a cohesive plan to define a CEQA project and begin work on an environmental impact report.
Pagan also noted ongoing coordination with the fire department, electric and water departments on wildfire-mitigation lessons learned and mentioned that council will hear from the fire department next week about the community wildfire protection plan.
