Lexington City’s Environmental Quality and Public Works Committee elected District 3 Council member Hannah LeGree as its chair during a Jan. 14 meeting and LeGree named Council member Savigny as vice chair.
The nomination came from Council member Savigny, who said, "I'd like to nominate District 3 Council member Hannah LeGree." Council member Beasley seconded the nomination. LeGree responded, "Yes, vice mayor. Thank you. I am," when asked whether she would serve if elected.
Vice Mayor (session chair) closed nominations, called for a voice vote restricted to committee members and said, "All those in favor of nomination for Council member LeGree as chair of EQPW, please say aye." The motion carried on a voice vote; the vice mayor then said, "That motion passes. Congratulations, Chair LeGree." The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript.
As her first act as chair, LeGree said she would "support Council member Savigny as the vice chair." Savigny accepted the offer, saying, "I'd be delighted. Thank you." The transcript records no separate formal vote on the vice chair appointment.
Committee business concluded with the chair adjourning the meeting and noting the group would reconvene at 1 p.m. for the General Government and Planning Committee.
The actions change the committee's leadership but do not, in the transcript, include additional policy debate or other agenda items.
