Planning and Zoning Commission elects Carrie Werteman chair, Lynn Stecker vice chair

The City of Indianola Planning and Zoning Commission elected Commissioner Carrie Werteman as chair and Commissioner Lynn Stecker as vice chair during its Jan. 14 meeting.
Commissioner Carrie Werteman accepted the nomination, saying, "I am happy to do it if that is what the group thinks is best." Commissioners then moved and seconded a motion to elect Werteman and Stecker. A roll-call vote recorded yes votes from Commissioners Darling, Marmon, Ritchie, Stecker, Vice and Werteman; the motion passed.
The election followed a brief nomination period during which members discussed the roles and a tradition that vice chairs often advance to chair. The vote was conducted by roll call after a motion was made and seconded; the commission congratulated the newly elected officers at the meeting's close.
