Mayor Pro Tem Dotson presented the committee's report, saying the committee met on Jan. 13, 2025 and recommended five appointments to the Downtown Advisory Board and candidates to fill a full member slot and an alternate on the Planning Board. Dotson described the applicant pool as strong and said the committee felt the selections would restore full membership to those advisory bodies.
A council member moved to approve the appointments as displayed on the meeting agenda; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Council did not discuss individual appointee names in detail during the public portion of the meeting and did not announce effective dates for the appointments during the action on the floor; staff indicated the recommendations came from the Citizens Appointment Committee and were before council for confirmation.
The approval fills vacancies on two advisory boards and gives the Planning Board a full seat and an alternate, restoring the boards' capacity to act on referrals and carry out advisory responsibilities to the council. Any formal start dates, terms and Oath of Office scheduling will be handled by city staff and recorded in the official minutes.
