Kootenai County approves contract for jail IT consultant Jared Peterson

The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 14 approved an independent contract to hire Jared Peterson as a jail bureau consultant to provide technical assistance on jail IT programs.
Captain Jeremy Heil, representing the sheriff's office, said the contract will begin Jan. 26 and run through Sept. 30, and that Peterson will work no more than 20 hours per week and be paid by invoice to the county. "This will be starting January 26 going through September 30 this year for specific technical assistance for IT support for jail programs. This contract will be no more than 20 hours a week to be paid by invoice to the county," Heil said.
Heil told the board the contract cost will be covered by a budget transfer from the temporary/seasonal budget to the B budget, and that auditors have reviewed the proposed arrangement; Heil said staff will monitor the line item to avoid exceeding authorized funds.
Board members noted minor corrections in the contract cover page and edition numbering; Heil said a corrected signing page would be included in the packet. Commissioner Eberlein moved approval; the motion passed unanimously with Commissioners Eberlein and Duncan and Chair Metairie voting aye.
No public comment was recorded on the contract at the meeting.
