The Sonoma City Design Review and Historic Preservation Commission unanimously re-elected Chair Amar during its Jan. 14 meeting and postponed a vote on vice chair until a seventh commissioner is identified.
The commission held nominations for chair early in the meeting. A commissioner moved to renominate Chair Amar for a one-year term; there were no public comments on the nomination and the motion passed by roll call vote.
Commissioners present recorded aye votes and the chair retained the gavel. Commissioners discussed whether to wait for Commissioner Randolph (not present) before selecting a vice chair and ultimately decided to postpone that vote until the commission can meet with a fuller roster. Chair Amar noted the caveat that she must not be absent while the vice chair position is vacant.
The procedural action leaves the chair in place and delays filling the vice chair slot until the commission has the option of additional applicants or when Commissioner Randolph is present.
Commissioners also confirmed attendance and absences at the start of the meeting; the meeting proceeded with the agenda after the chair selection and vice-chair postponement.
