Franklin Junior High renovation near completion; district plans student move-in Jan. 21

Project manager Mister Wise described approximately nine months of work on roughly 50,000 square feet plus 2,000 square feet of new construction. Renovations include a new roof, full plumbing and electrical upgrades, modern lighting controls, new fire-alarm and intercom systems, upgraded internet and Promethean boards, new camera system, new wooden gym floor with logos, bus canopy and new HVAC systems. The project also replaced restroom facilities and installed new classroom furniture.
Staff said contractors remain on site but that moves will begin the week of Jan. 20. The district plans a virtual student day so crews can move cafeteria and other large items without students present; staff described a phased transition so teachers can claim rooms, and students will visit briefly by grade level before full occupancy. Board members praised the renovations and staff for rapid progress.
