Daggett County names Raymond Pallison as county nominee for National Day of the American Cowboy

The Daggett County Commission voted to nominate Raymond Pallison as the county representative for the National Day of the American Cowboy in conjunction with the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo for 2025.

The nomination arose from a committee-style discussion of past nominees and a staff-provided list of candidates. A commissioner described Pallison’s longtime involvement with local rodeos and ranching activities as the reason for the recommendation. A motion to nominate Raymond Pallison was made, seconded and approved with verbal assent (“Aye”) from the commissioners present.

Commissioners discussed ensuring nominees are able to attend the Ogden event, including offering a hotel room as part of the county’s recognition so the nominee would not need to return the same day. Staff said published write-ups for the event (Folio) have deadlines, which can restrict last-minute substitutions.

The commission recorded the nomination as a formal county action and said staff would follow through with logistics and any write-up required by the event organizer.
