The commission, meeting as the Cass County Commission, voted 2-0 to approve a resolution allowing the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to purchase new duty pistols and related holsters and accessories, including optics upgrades. A sheriff’s office representative said the department follows a seven- to eight-year replacement plan and that the purchase “puts us right back on that schedule.” The representative added, “There are only 2 companies that are allowed to sell us the guns we use as duty weapons.” The commission recorded the vote as two in favor, zero opposed; Commissioner Mike Moreland was absent.
