The Selma Tourism Advisory Board voted to reallocate unspent funds originally earmarked for a digital kiosk toward Google and Facebook advertising for the town's visitor bureau.
Board members said the town elected to retain $2,000 of the previously unspent digital-marketing money for town-managed Facebook posts. Staff proposed using remaining tourism project funds for a combination of Google and Facebook ad buys to promote Railroad Days and other events through June; staff recommended amounts to carry paid placements through the event season and said a formal budget recommendation would go to council in February.
The board approved a motion to move the funds from the digital kiosk project to the visitor bureau's online-ad budget and seconded the action. Members noted the digital kiosk could be carried into next fiscal year if needed and that the reallocation requires staff and council review before funds are spent.
Ending: Staff will provide precise monthly-ad spending figures and a final reallocation amount as part of the February budget packet to the board and to town council for approval.
