BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. — District facilities staff updated the Building and Grounds Committee on Jan. 6, 2025, reporting near‑completion of bond‑funded HVAC projects, continuing roofing and stadium work, and ongoing punch‑list items that will be held until completion.
Maintenance staff said December saw 69 open work orders and 111 closed work orders, and that about 29 HVAC call‑ins were handled between in‑house crews and outside vendors. The major bond HVAC installation is mostly complete with staff and the architect conducting unit‑by‑unit checks; staff said a handful of units require factory service and that the final contractor checks should finish in the next two weeks.
A facilities manager described punch‑list obligations tied to recent large projects: the district will retain a portion of final contract payments for outstanding items (staff cited roughly $350,000 held against remaining punch‑list work) while dispersing final lien‑finish payments to subs with outstanding claims. The architect and project manager have agreed to remain available as staff completes final reviews.
Other work in progress includes new LED lighting in hallways and classrooms, substantial repairs at South Foreguard (stadium and junior high) and progress on DeRidder High School band room and agricultural (AG) facility projects. Roof repairs completed ahead of recent storms held, staff said. Temporary heating and cooling units remain in use in select spaces (for example, gym dressing rooms) while warranty and insurance issues are resolved.
Board members asked about safety padding under basketball goals to reduce student injuries; staff said they would provide the material and address the issue promptly. Facilities staff said landscaping and site work were proceeding, with several projects on track to finish within a month given favorable weather.
No formal action was required for the update; staff will return to the board with final completion and acceptance details as punch‑list items are cleared.
