Board members reviewed contract documents for the district’s bond program construction manager and were asked to submit questions to staff and the district attorney before the board’s Feb. 3 meeting, when the contract will be brought to a vote.
Administration said the contract package included a standard form of agreement and general conditions dated in 2024 and that the district and the construction manager had negotiated several clarifications following the RFP. Staff described revisions that clarify responsibilities and costs when work is delayed for reasons outside the construction manager’s control.
Board members were given time to review marked-up contract pages (crossed-out text and underlined additions, with some insertions highlighted). Administrators encouraged directors to read the underlying and blue-added language in the document and to forward specific questions to the superintendent or the board’s legal counsel. The board did not take a final vote on the contract during the meeting.
Administrators said the construction manager review took longer than anticipated because the firm sought detailed clarifications and because district legal counsel and the project architect exchanged revisions. The board was told the administration expects to place the contract on the Feb. 3 agenda for formal approval.
