Stevens County board adopts 2025 meeting schedule, sets standing work session and committee roster

The Stevens County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt its 2025 meeting schedule and to create a monthly standing work session.

At the organizational meeting, the board approved holding regular meetings on the first and third [day] of each month at 9 a.m. and established a standing work session on the second Tuesday of each month from 8 to 9 a.m., to be cancelled as necessary if no topics arise. The board also approved its slate of committee assignments and its AMC delegate appointments for 2025.

County staff explained the standing session is intended to give the board a recurring, predictable time to handle work-session items and committee coordination without repeatedly scheduling special meetings. Commissioners who spoke during the discussion said they favored a placeholder meeting that can be cancelled if unused; one commissioner noted conflicts in February with the AMC Legislative Conference and asked staff to check schedules before finalizing the calendar.

Board members approved the motion to adopt the schedule, the motion approving committee assignments, and the motion to set the standing work session by voice vote, with the chair calling for “aye” and declaring each motion carried.

The approved AMC delegates named during the meeting included Todd and county staff representatives; commissioners confirmed they would submit the delegate list to AMC for 2025.

The new meeting calendar, standing work session and committee roster take effect for the 2025 meeting year; staff said an electronic calendar invitation will be sent to board members.
