The Riverton City Council adopted Ordinance 25-1, rezoning a 0.88-acre parcel (2284 West 12600 South) from RR22 to Commercial Gateway (CG).
Council member Tish Broker moved the ordinance and Council member McKay seconded. A roll-call vote recorded support from council members present and the motion carried; council staff confirmed the rezoning is consistent with the city’s master plan designation for the area.
Jason Lethbridge, Riverton’s director of development services, described the property’s location west of Master Muffler and noted surrounding zoning includes professional office and commercial gateway. He said the application contained no specific use at this stage; the applicant requested flexibility to pursue future development consistent with city planning.
Keith Grumman, representing the applicant, said the request was intended to conform with the master plan and allow possible future development. “All we wanna do is conform to the city, master plan and for possible future development,” he told the council before the public hearing opened.
No members of the public came forward to speak against the rezoning during the public hearing, and the council remanded the item for vote after staff and the applicant spoke.
Outcome: Ordinance 25-1 was adopted; staff advised the applicant that site-plan review and any subsequent permits would follow the rezoning decision.
