Board members and airport staff discussed establishing an official name and brand for the airport’s fixed-base operator (FBO) to support future contracts, marketing and staffing as the terminal project advances.
Airport staff member Amanda Brundart said naming an official FBO entity "we can then start contracts with different companies like NetJets and Flexjet to be able to, have them come into our facility and really be able to work with them, being in that official capacity." She described the change as important for marketing and for preparing to staff a fully operational FBO when the new terminal opens.
Board members and staff offered name suggestions including Tumbleweed Aviation, High Plains Aviation/High Plains Air and Endless Horizons Aviation. Member Thais proposed using the community tagline, suggesting "Horizon" or "Endless Horizons" in a name; another member cautioned that "Horizon Air" is an existing airline, and recommended running potential names past city council and conducting trademark checks. The board discussed narrowing options to three and taking a public survey; staff requested suggestions by the next board meeting in April.
No formal motion or vote occurred on naming during the meeting. The item was recorded as a brainstorming discussion and staff said they would circulate suggested names by email and consider public outreach.
