Clovis airport board approves adding witness signature line to hangar leases

The board approved adding an airport witness signature line to t-hangar and fixed-base operator (FBO) hangar lease agreements to reduce future signature disputes, airport staff said.
Airport staff member Amanda Brundart told the board the change aims to prevent situations in which applicants sign lease forms, take them home and later deny the signature when billed. "They signed them, brought them back, never bought an airplane, and held the lease," Brundart said, adding some tenants later claimed their signatures were forged. "Adding a signature line that we can have an airport witness ... may help alleviate some of these challenges that we've recently seen."
The board’s motion to approve the request was made and seconded and carried without a roll-call tally recorded in the meeting transcript. The motion approved adding the airport witness signature line to the lease documents for the t-hangars and the FBO hangar.
The discussion framed the change as a document-deficiency correction intended to reduce future billing disputes. No additional policy or operational changes to the leases were proposed during the discussion.
