Perkins City Council voted Dec. 31, 2024, to accept a $6,900 proposal from Ross Construction to replace a deteriorating fence between Karnes Circle and an apartment complex off Blivers Lane. The council approved using $3,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds with the remaining $3,900 coming from the city general fund.

City staff described the fence as dilapidated and said the city owns roughly half of the fence length while resident Debbie Sharp owns the other half. Staff said both the city and Sharp obtained quotes and that "the most reasonable, lowest, and best quote we got was from Ross Construction," and the city moved to hire a single contractor to complete the entire run.

An unnamed councilmember moved to accept the Ross Construction proposal; Mayor Amy seconded the motion on the record. A roll-call vote recorded "yes" from Amy, the vice mayor, Jason and Veronica; the transcript records Commissioner Sarah Dickerson was absent at the start of the meeting and a notation that she joined at approximately 4:03 p.m., but Dickerson's vote is not recorded on the motion.
