City staff told the Franklin City Administrative Committee on Oct. 20 that several public‑safety and municipal positions are in active recruitment or onboarding.
A staff member reported there is an open firefighter‑paramedic position. The city recently started one dispatcher about 10 days earlier and said two additional dispatchers are completing final background checks and are expected to begin within weeks. The city has an accepted offer out to a light equipment operator and expects a police officer to begin the hiring process imminently.
The staff report said most other open positions are on hold pending budget approval; the city attorney position is out for interviews and an applicant with municipal experience is scheduled for an interview on Wednesday. A committee member asked whether a recent pay increase had helped attract applicants; staff said it was too early to tell.
Committee members discussed timing for future meetings and an outstanding sick‑leave ordinance language item that staff said would be returned to a future meeting when ready.
