Carbon County proclaims June 9–13, 2025, Child Welfare Professionals Appreciation Week

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday adopted a proclamation recognizing June 9–13, 2025, as Carbon County Child Welfare Professionals Appreciation Week.
The proclamation, read and presented by a commissioner, praised the county Children and Youth Services staff for investigating abuse, providing family services and working in difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions. The board noted that staff have helped avert injuries and deaths of children in the county and described the work as challenging and emotionally demanding.
Jill, identified in the meeting as the director of Children and Youth Services, spoke briefly and said she could not attend in person because she was at a conference to learn more about child welfare laws and regulations but thanked the commissioners for recognizing the staff.
“...our 13 caseworkers, ranging from about 20 years of service to four months, show up every day and go out and help children and families,” Jill said during the meeting recording. Commissioners and other officials thanked the staff and said they appreciated the work and the personal risks staff sometimes take during home visits.
The board formally adopted the proclamation by vote. The clerk said copies of the proclamation and recognition would be provided to Children and Youth Services staff.
