Student representatives recap activities, mental-health week and national awards at final board meeting

Two student representatives gave their final update to the Chisago Lakes School Board, describing recent student-council activities, a mental-health awareness week, spring events and national competition results.
They said student council ran teacher-appreciation events including a coffee cart and awards; organized mental-health week that included staff and student videos with testimonials; and held prom and other spring events. One student said student council aimed to move from complaint to action by researching issues and following through.
The students also reported extracurricular achievements: Business Professionals of America competitors attended the national conference in Orlando; one student placed as national runner-up in one competition and national champion in another. The student noted uncertainty about the program's continuation next year but said they would work with administration to sustain it. The student representative said the district's student-delegate practice anticipated state action: Minnesota Senate File 197, passed Feb. 26, now requires student delegates on school boards statewide, and the district was already following that model.
Board members thanked both students for their service and congratulated them on their accomplishments. The board acknowledged the students' role bringing student perspectives to meetings and encouraged continued involvement in district activities.
