The Price City Planning and Zoning Commission handled several administrative items Jan. 6, approving minutes, adopting an internal conduct-resolution, selecting officers for 2025 and briefly convening as a Certified Local Government (CLG) committee to discuss grant opportunities.
Minutes and routine motions The commission voted to approve the Dec. 9, 2024 meeting minutes after a motion by Commissioner Swinburne, seconded by Commissioner Black. The motion carried on a voice vote.
Code-of-conduct and conflict disclosures The commission considered and passed Resolution 2025-2 PZ, described in the meeting as an affirmation of compliance with state law regarding the commission’s code of conduct and conflict-of-interest disclosures. The motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded during the meeting and recorded as passed. Commissioners confirmed that required disclosure forms had been submitted.
Officer elections The commission conducted its annual officer selections for 2025. Nominations were taken separately for chair and vice chair. A nomination was made for Dan Young for chair; after no additional nominations a motion to elect (recorded in the minutes as electing Jan Young) was made, seconded and approved on a voice vote. For vice chair, the commission elected Todd Thorne after a motion and second. The commission followed its bylaws in conducting separate votes for each office.
Certified Local Government (CLG) committee The commission recessed to convene as a CLG committee. Planning staff alerted the committee that the CLG grant application period is open, that only active CLGs with no current grant may apply, that the application deadline is Feb. 14, and that projects awarded under the cycle require a 50% local match. The CLG cycle mentioned in the meeting runs April 1 to Oct. 31 of the following year. The committee did not award or approve any grants at the Jan. 6 meeting.
Other items The commission noted there were no conditional-use permits on the agenda and adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
