Kanosh town council members voted to tentatively approve an agreement to sell a section of the town's power line to Dixie Power for $100,000, with the final sale contingent on review by the town attorney.
The council discussed the written offer for the line running from Hatton Road to the town's metering point south of Reservation Road. A council member said the purchase would move ownership of that section to Dixie Power and that the contract included a clause to prevent increases in the town's wheeling fees.
Council members noted the town would no longer have maintenance responsibility or liability for the portion sold, though ownership and operations resume at the metering point where the town takes possession again.
Council members said proceeds from the sale could contribute toward the town's well project. The motion to tentatively approve the agreement was passed with a voice vote; the council directed staff to forward the contract to the town attorney for review before final acceptance.
The council recorded no formal roll-call tally during the meeting; minutes indicate the motion was made, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. The agreement includes a clause preserving the town's current wheeling fees and assigns maintenance of the sold segment to Dixie Power.
Council members asked staff to deliver the offer package to the town attorney and to circulate any attorney recommendations to the council before a final approval vote.
